Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What inspired you to write Battling Mental Illness Behind Bars?
The book was born from my years working in justice and healthcare systems where I witnessed how untreated trauma and mental illness impact individuals behind bars. I wanted to give readers a deeper understanding of what incarceration looks like through the lens of humanity and healing — not just punishment.
2. How did your background in Human Resources and leadership influence your writing?
After three decades in HR and organizational leadership, I’ve seen how policies and systems shape people’s lives. That experience taught me that transformation begins with awareness and accountability — two themes woven through every one of my books, whether about mental health, business, or leadership.
3. What’s your goal as an author?
My goal is to inform, inspire, and equip readers to take action — whether that means launching a business, advocating for reform, or simply understanding mental illness with more compassion. Every book I write aims to bridge knowledge and empowerment.
4. How can your Tax Hacks for the Modern Entrepreneur book help small business owners?
It’s a plain-English, no-jargon guide to business formation, deductions, and compliance. I wrote it for everyday entrepreneurs who want to keep more of what they earn and avoid costly mistakes — without needing a finance degree.
5. What other books have you written?
Along with Battling Mental Illness Behind Bars and Tax Hacks for the Modern Entrepreneur, I’ve authored How to Operate and Run a Small Business and Shattered, Still Standing: My Life with Mental Illness. Each title reflects a piece of my professional expertise and personal journey.
6. What message do you hope readers take away from your work?
That healing and reinvention are possible — no matter how hard the starting point. I want readers to see that discipline, faith, and support systems can rewrite any story.
7. Do you offer speaking engagements or workshops?
Yes! I speak at conferences, universities, correctional programs, and leadership events. My talks focus on mental health awareness, trauma-informed care, business development, and veteran reintegration.
